01 The story, in three paragraphs

Why everyone keeps coming back.

Terzo Tempo is a genuine Roman culinary gem nestled in the vibrant heart of Via di Ponziano, Rome. This warm, family-run restaurant invites you to experience authentic Roman cuisine that feels just like homemade, crafted with passion and respect for tradition. From the moment you step inside, you’re embraced by a cozy, intimate atmosphere—one that makes you feel like part of the family, rather than just another diner.

The menu celebrates classic Italian flavors with a focus on fresh, seasonal ingredients, ensuring every bite bursts with natural goodness. Guests rave about the tender, flavorful gnocchi—a standout dish that melts in your mouth with a perfect balance of texture and taste. The grilled lamb, infused with zesty lemon, creates a harmonious fusion of savory richness and refreshing brightness, enhanced wonderfully by crisp, leafy greens that cleanse the palate with each bite.

Terzo Tempo also boasts an impressive selection of Italian wines, featuring sparkling gems like Prosecco Valdobbiadene DOC extra dry and the delicate Blanc de Blanc Millesimato DOCG, alongside an array of whites such as Rauscedo Chardonnay Friuli DOC and Brezzò Roero Arneis Terè DOCG. Whether you're a wine connoisseur or simply looking to complement your meal with a well-matched glass, their thoughtfully curated list elevates the dining experience.

For those who appreciate a sweet finish, the handmade desserts crafted by the chef are pure delight. The tiramisu is exquisitely creamy and indulgent, while the freshly baked cantucci biscuits offer the perfect nutty crunch to accompany a post-meal coffee or digestivo. Speaking of digestivos, the restaurant offers a refined assortment of Italian liquors and grappa, such as the rich Grappa Barrique Poli 24 Carati Oro and traditional favorites like Amaro Lucano and Limoncello, allowing you to end your meal on an authentically Italian note.

Visitors consistently highlight the genuine hospitality and familial warmth that frame every visit. Whether you arrive early to enjoy a peaceful, solitary meal or join the lively crowd later in the evening, Terzo Tempo’s sincere charm and exceptional culinary delights remain unforgettable. If you’re seeking an authentic taste of Rome—complete with heartfelt service and soul-satisfying dishes—this charming spot in Trastevere will capture your heart just as it has delighted countless guests before you.

A real find. If you want a genuine roman local restaurant, this is it. A very warm welcome with a family feel. Kind and friendly people cooking great food to traditional recipes. If you go early you'll be on your own.... but that didn't matter to us one bit. Love this place, and ate here twice in the four nights we were in rome. If we come back to Rome we'll eat here again.

Terzo Tempo was a phenomenal dining experience in a charming setting. With good prices, traditional Italian fare, and daily specials that will blow your mind, Terzo Tempo was absolutely exquisite. The gnocchi (pictured) was tender, fresh, and flavorful; by far the best I’ve ever had! If you are looking for cucina romana, this is the place to go!

WOW is an understatement ! This place was everything you want on a trip to Rome, wholesome, clean, natural, authentic food it tasted home made, great portions and tge host and chef were phenomenal. The host makes the deserts which were divine, of course we had to have her tiramisu and then try her freshly made cantucci biscuits! She mentioned they only cook seasonal produce and that would explain why it was amazing. Thank you so much for a wonderful experience.

Grilled lamb is amazing, the lemon blends all the flavors together, and you can cleanse your palette with the leafy greens so every bite is as good as the first.

Lovely family restaurant in Trastevere with a decent offer of local food (mainly pasta and meat). We also had fresh summer white vino della casa, recommended! The staff spoke Italian but the menu is in IT/EN, so you can easily manage to order.

This restaurant is amongst the best in Rome. The husband (chef) and wife (host) duo are a testament to the quality of in season produce used to provide a culinary experience that is authentic and flavoursome. If you know, you know.

Our best dining experience in Rome so far. Not “touristy”, but very accommodating, and I think it is a family business. The lady serving us was very kind and patient with my poor Italian, using a translation app when we got stuck, so don’t worry about language. The food was perfect, prepared and cooked fresh by the talented chef who obviously takes delight in his work and came to check personally that we enjoyed our food. Everything was cooked with skill, presented well, flavours balanced. It was so good I nearly cried, twice! The price was exceptionally good value - two pasta dishes, one grilled meat dish (enough to share), half a litre of house wine, bottled water, bread and coffee for 55 Euros - no surprises in the bill, and every item was good value. Sometimes, as a visitor you feel vulnerable, but here you are in safe hands: you can order what you want and not worry about the bill, as it should be; no surprises. I would move to Italy to eat like this regularly! Spectacular! If you are considering it, go - you won’t regret it.
